I am unable to open the Windows Mobile Device Center application after completing the installation?

This problem usually occurs if you fail to connect your device properly. When you connect your device, a splash screen will display on the computer to indicate the Windows Mobile Device Center is starting.

I am unable to install ActiveSync on Windows Vista?

On Windows Vista, Windows Mobile Device Center has replaced ActiveSync. Therefore, you will be unable to install it.

What should I do after upgrading Windows Vista from Windows XP?

If you had established an ActiveSync partnership in Windows XP, then after the upgrade, you will have to re-establish the partnership.

Can I get rid of third-party programs installed on my device?

You can easily remove unwanted third-party programs from your device by using the Windows Mobile Device Center.

Are Sync Center and Windows Mobile Device Center different?

Yes, they are. Sync Center displays the summary of all partnerships—including the Windows Mobile Partnerships—you have created on your computer. On the other hand, you can use the Windows Mobile Device Center application to create and drill-down your partnerships with various Windows Mobile devices.

How can I set up wireless sync schedule in Windows Mobile Device Center?

The wireless sync feature is not included in Windows Mobile Device Center. Therefore, if you want to use it, you will have to set it up on your device.

Which devices support the mobile device data backup and restore?

This feature is available in the Windows Mobile 2003 devices.

Why am I unable to sync my Windows Mail, Windows Calendar or the Windows Address book?

Windows Mobile Device Center can sync only with Microsoft Outlook or Exchange applications. The application does not provide support for Windows mail, calendar or contacts.

Is it possible to use Bluetooth or Infrared (IR) to connect for the first time?

This is not possible. You need to establish the initial connection between your device and the Windows Mobile Device Center application on your desktop using a cable. After this, you can setup the Bluetooth or IR for all future connections.

I did not connect my device during installation, will there be a problem?

Although it is highly recommenced, there is no strict rule to have the device connected during installation. Unless something else goes wrong, you may be able to connect your device without any problems.

I am unable to launch Windows Mobile Device Center after installation even though the device was connected during the process.

Disconnect and then reconnect your mobile device. You must now be able to launch the Windows Mobile Device Center application.

I am unable to launch Windows Mobile Device Center because I failed to accept the licensing agreement (EULA).

To resolve the issue, you will have to accept the EULA. For this, disconnect and then reconnect your mobile device. This will display the EULA, accept it and then launch the Windows Mobile Device Center application.

In WMDC’s folder settings, I am unable to any save changes to my folder hierarchy.

This problem may occur if you add quotes to the folder names. If it is so, remove the quotes, and you will now be able to save the changes.

I am unable to locate my external storage card on my device when syncing with Windows Media Player.

When you attempt to sync a Microsoft Windows Mobile 5-based device with AKU 2.3 or later with Microsoft Windows Media Player 11, you will be able to sync only the internal storage on the device.
