Unable to Sync Using a Bluetooth Connection
To be able to connect your mobile device over Bluetooth, perform the following steps to setup the Bluetooth connection.
- Log on to your system with a user account that has administrative rights to your system.
- Connect the Bluetooth dongle to your computer and ensure that its drivers are installed on the system.
Note: The Bluetooth dongle is required to enable your PC to connect via Bluetooth. The driver for the dongle usually comes when you buy the dongle. Before proceeding with the next step, it is important for you to install the driver for your Bluetooth dongle on the system.
- Open Control Panel, select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices and then select Bluetooth Devices.
- On the Options tab in the Bluetooth Devices dialog box, select the Allow Bluetoooth devices to find this computer check box.
- Select OK to apply you changes and exit the dialog box.
- Open the Windows Mobile Device Center application, select the Mobile Device Settings button to open the Connection Settings dialog box.
- Ensure that the Allow connections to one of the following: box is selected and Bluetooth is selected in the drop-down list box.
- Select OK to apply your changes and exit the dialog box.
- Next, on your mobile device, open the ActiveSync option and then from the Menu, select the Connect via Bluetooth option.
- Select Yes to give your confirmation to set up the partnership.
- If you are using Windows Mobile Powered Pocket PC Phone Edition Devices, select the New Partnership option and on Windows Mobile Powered Smartphones, select Menu, and then select New.
Your mobile device will now search for all Bluetooth devices within its range. When the search is complete, the name of your computer should be displayed in the results on your device.
- Select your computer, and then select Next.
Note: If your computer does not show up in the results go back to checking whether your Bluetooth dongle is properly connected and its driver is properly installed on the system.
- When the device prompts, enter a passkey, and then select Next.
- When you do this, a bubble will pop up on your Windows computer with the A Bluetooth device is attempting to connect with your computer message.
- Click on this bubble to display the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard.
- When prompted, enter the same passkey you added on your device, on your computer, and then select Next.
- On a Windows Mobile Powered Pocket PC Phone Edition device, ensure that the ActiveSync is displayed and is selected and then select Finish.
On a Windows Mobile Powered smartphone, select Next in the Display Name window, ensure that the ActiveSync is displayed and is selected in the list of services. Next select Done, select OK and then select Done.
- Next, on your computer, select Finish in the Add Bluetooth Device Wizard.
- On your device, open ActiveSync, select Menu, and then select Connect via Bluetooth.
Your mobile device should now connect to Windows Mobile Device Center. If you want to disconnect, on your device, select Menu, and then select Disconnect.
