Installing Desktop Experience Feature On Windows Vista Server Longhorn to Use Windows Mobile Device Center

In order to use Windows Mobile Device Center on your Windows Vista Longhorn Server, you need to first install the Desktop Experience feature. You can do this by performing the steps listed below:

1. Open Control Panel, select Administrative Tools and then select Server Manager to open the Server Manager UI.
   
   Here, on the Role Summary pane, you may notice that only the File Server role is installed. In order to use Windows Mobile Device Center, you need to install the Desktop Experience feature within the File Server role.
   
   
2. For this, on the Feature Summary pane and click on the Add Features link that is depicted indicated by a green arrow button.
   
   The Add Features Wizard will be displayed.
   
   
3. Select the Desktop Experience check box.
4. Select Next, and then select Install.
   
   A box indicating the progress of Desktop Experience will be displayed.
   
   
5. After the installation is complete, exit the wizard and Server Manager UI.
6. Open the Server Manager UI again to confirm the installation of Desktop Experience feature.
