Getting Disconnected When Syncing Large Files

Your mobile device may disconnect or close when you try to sync images, music, and other large files with your computer. This usually occurs if there is a serial driver bug on the device.

If you are not on a VPN or some particular type of firewalls, you may resolve your large file sync problems by switching to RNDIS mode.

If your mobile device comprises the USB to PC option, you may perform the following steps to workaround the issue:

  1. On your mobile device, select Connections option from Settings.
  2. Search for and select the USB to PC option.
  3. Ensure that the Enable advanced network functionality check box selected. This option should be selected to enable RNDIS USB, and then select OK.
  4. Next, warm boot your device by performing one of the following tasks:

    • Hold down the power button.
    • Press the reset button.
    • Remove the battery.

  5. Turn on the device again, connect it to your system and then try to sync again.

Note: Your device may take a little extra time to connect. This is because RNDIS has a larger connecting wait time.

  6. If you are unable to connect at all after you do the workaround, then just switch back to the Serial USB to sync your device.
