Troubleshooting Inactive ActiveX Control Problems

ActiveX controls are used to incorporate features such as animations and audio/video in Web pages to make them interactive, attractive and user-friendly.

You encounter inactive ActiveX control problems when:

  • When you install a script debugger software, such as Microsoft Script Debugger on your PC.
  • In the Internet Options dialog box (Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options), on the Advanced tab, you have cleared the Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) check box in the Browsing area.

Due to the above conditions your Internet Explorer fails to correctly evaluate the changes done to the Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer) setting and you encounter inactive ActiveX problems.

You can resolve this problem by installing the latest cumulative security update for Internet Explorer on your system. You can search for, download, and install the updates from the following Microsoft Update Web site.

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

You can work around this problem by ensuring that the Disable script debugging(Internet Explorer) check box is selected on the Advanced tab of the Internet Option dialog box in Internet Explorer 7.
